Health insurance was a topic of discussion at the Grundy County R-5 Board of Education meeting on March 12. The district’s insurance provider, Missouri Educators’ Trust, has indicated a seven percent increase in pricing. A comparable base plan to last year has risen by $43, bringing the total to $657 per month. Staff members will have the option to select from five different plans. The board has set its insurance support cap at $600 per month.
The board approved maintaining tuition at the state adequacy target, which will remain at $6,760 for the upcoming school year.
Approval was granted for Grundy County R-5 students to attend the morning session at Grand River Technical School for the next academic year.
A cooperative agreement with the Newtown-Harris School District was reviewed. Following discussion, no objections or changes were requested. The board approved the agreement for the next school year.
The purchase of a new school bus was considered. Administration has been directed to explore available options and provide a report at the next board meeting.
Administration presented salary information during the meeting. However, no decisions were made on the matter.
A report was provided regarding a request from the Braymer and Polo school districts to join the HDC Conference.
It was noted that all Grundy County R-5 school buses successfully passed the Highway Patrol’s inspection on February 25.
Following a closed session, the board announced that a contract was offered for the high school principal position for the upcoming school year. The name of the individual will be disclosed upon acceptance of the offer. Current High School Principal Matt Rayl’s resignation was accepted last month.
The board accepted resignations from Part-Time Librarian Alesia Campbell and Megan Peterson, who served as the varsity cheerleading coach. Additionally, the resignation and retirement of Rose Bingham were approved. Bingham has served as a cook in the district for 25 years.
All certified staff members have been rehired for the upcoming school year.
